It's crazy to use the [00:10:30] social media. It's like all your

contacts, uh, all your credit card details, like it's there every, they can use anything and you agree to it. And then they say, uh, your camera [00:10:40] is essentially opens like open turf for us. We can use it whenever. Whether you want us to or not. We can just take pictures, we can take video.

Yeah. If you agree to their terms to use it. Anyway, that's, it was scary. It was crazy, man. And my son was like, forget this, and he deleted everything. So he is off it. [00:11:00] He wants

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas plans. Yeah. A couple gatherings. I'm sure with my in-laws, my outlaws do gifts and others, uh, my in-laws will for sure do gifts.

Yeah. I'll get Christmas presents [00:11:10] from them. So it's only you and Marie that won't give gifts. Gifts to our kids. Yeah. Right. And even they'll get a few little things. What started that? Ah, I just, our kids, uh, because of our, how much do [00:11:20] I say here? How do I say this the right way? Um, our children, because of their life experiences, some of them do not do well at all.

Right.

With gift giving. And it's [00:11:30] causes huge anxiety and it causes huge conflict after competition and stuff. Competition between siblings, there's siblings of ours that have had horrible, traumatic [00:11:40] experiences No way. With previous parents situations. So for me it's, and I think. I mean, everybody would agree in a general rule that Christmas is too commercialized.

I feel it's too [00:11:50] commercialized. Yeah, I agree. I des it. I think we all agree to that. I despise it. Um, and I think that like even last year we didn't give any Christmas gifts at all. And we had, I can't remember if it was Christmas [00:12:00] morning or when it was, or the night or the day before, we just sat the kids down and I'd written a letter to the kids that the older ones read, and it was basically like, Hey, we're not doing Christmas gifts, but we're taking you on a little trip.

So we took 'em on a trip [00:12:10] and this year we took 'em on a trip to Toronto. Right. So it's like our kids are not hard done by. No, no, no. You know, I

mean like, but you've explained why this is not happening. Yeah. And

I think, does a kid ever get it? Of course. Like to [00:12:20] some degree not, yeah. I mean, every kid has a different level of maturity, but um,

Kyle: I mean, I didn't grow up with Christmas gifts ever.

Yeah, that's obvious.

Kyle: Serious. Could,

yeah. Look at 'em. No Christmas gifts. [00:12:30]

Kyle: No. I mean, the majority of people I grew up with didn't have good, good, good Christmas gifts. No giving at all. No, nothing.

What about that little, uh, orange, Christmas, orange with the candle in it? Is that Dutch? [00:12:40] What are you talking, what's it called?

you mixing up your, uh, cinta and your, uh, what's that thing? Claus and Halloween or what?

Kyle: December 5th or cinder Claus. We isn't the, did [00:12:50] you do that? We did gift exchange, yeah. Oh, so you did do that. So is that the orange with the candles? The Christmas day was nothing to do with gifts or anything else like that.

Kyle: Okay. It was just go to church twice. That's it. Okay. Is it

you guys that do the orange [00:13:00] thing with the candle coming out of it? No, the orange, the fruit, the piece of fruit, or. No, I thought it was Dutch orange thing. Maybe it was, was the Danish.

Kyle: It was funny. I had my sister over yesterday, she's [00:13:10] down syndrome and uh, she was showing me some pictures, um, of some wreaths she was making for on the centerpiece of the guy.

Kyle: I'm like, are you, are you sure that's allowed? She goes, yeah, that's allowed. I'm like, what about my [00:13:20] tree on Christmas tree? No, that's not allowed. That's where they

drew the line. That's not out allowed. That's where they drew the line. I mean, that's the part that I've always drawn. So the line, drawing the line in the sand, the spot that it's drawn, I'm like, I can't do [00:13:30] the hair growing up

Kyle: If like, if you had a Christmas tree, you, you prob you weren't saved.

That's a fact. You laugh, but I mean, that's a fact. Get serious. Like it was. Well, you don't even get it right. You're still, [00:13:40] you're short circuiting as you're sitting here. But

Kyle: Christmas like res are okay. Christmas dinners, uh, maybe. Yeah. That's, I mean, lots of families don't, and

you, you would agree with the reason people [00:13:50] don't give gifts, right?

You would see the behind the, yeah. Yeah. The consumerism stuff. You would see the point of, you know, now again, some people would turn it right around on me, but why

the Christmas tree? Why is that so bad? What's [00:14:00] I, I don't because it's German. What? I don't know. That have things against the German that's in house that was over in the forties

Kyle: and lights in the house.

Kyle: Lights in the house and Christmas tree. That was like [00:14:10] hard. No full stop. You would get a visit from the elders for sure.

Alright. What weird stuff did we do? Christmas? I don't know. New Year's is pretty funny in, in [00:14:30] Newfoundland. I mean everybody goes out. There's, I don't think I remember growing up except for the town. The town would have like a little firework show, but growing up nobody really shot off [00:14:40] fireworks. At New Year's, everyone just goes out on the dick and just fires off a shotgun.

Kyle: And the rule to, you have to go to Holland for New Year's Eve, is that right? It World War ii. It is [00:14:50] amazing. We

Kyle: I was talking to our buddy Chris yesterday. I think we all know our buddy Chris. He was saying that, that the two guys got, uh, that got traded for, uh. Um, two of the three guys that got traded for uh, Quinn Hughes, Quinn [00:16:00] Hughes are uh Christians.

Kyle: Oh, wow. He told me to have him on the podcast because even the

young buck, the 24, the Dina,

Kyle: I'm not sure, I didn't look it up, but for the Canucks, yeah.

They got three guys back in a trade [00:16:10] for their superstar best player. Arguably one of the best players in the league. Yeah. Um, best player the Canucks have ever had.

last time, [00:16:20] last time I followed anything to do with hockey, like you were talking about pve Bur Okay. I love Berry

Kyle: Funny story when I was like nine Patrick Wall, nine years old and I was having my like issues and, and my big blowups, um, [00:16:40] I was listening talks about as if the

issue stopped after you're nine years old. I love it.

Kyle: Back when I was having big issues. Oh, that's fair enough. That's okay. That's fair. That's awesome.

Kyle: I was listening to the, the [00:16:50] Canucks, uh, in the playoffs one year. I don't know who they were playing against. This was, this would've been like 2004, 2003. Either way. One time they scored, I think it was, um, that, [00:17:00] that black guy that played with the Sedins, what's his name? Hir? No, Anson Carter. Okay. Way back, way back about that way, way back in the day.

Kyle: Well, he, he, he scored seven goal, whatever. And [00:17:10] I just like, I was listening to it on the radio and I ran outta my room and I was screaming for joy. My parents came running in because they thought that something, something was going sideways and, uh, no, the can connect [00:17:20] scored. Okay. And good memory.

When I went to Australia, I got into Aussie Rules footie, but I [00:17:30] didn't, I didn't really keep track of Canadian sports while I was gone. So I was there for 13 years and I kinda lost track of everything. And then when I came back, 'cause I used to be a Toronto Maple Leafs [00:17:40] fan. That's

embarrassing. I would not have admitted that.

stay in Toronto, anybody about Toronto. Anyway, I I, I've never kept up with it since just,

Kyle: Hey, you [00:17:50] were in Australia for 13 years. Does that, uh, the shooting this week in at Bondy Beach, is that you? A little harder? Yeah. Was that close to where you would've lived or? Yeah.

No, no, it wasn't close to where we live is the, [00:18:00] like, you know, an hour's flight away.

Okay. It'd be essentially like going to Alberta.

Kyle: I remember, I remember being there, uh, for work and, and being at that beach. Brutal. And like, Fiona took

it really hard. [00:18:10] Oh,

Kyle: it's crazy.

Like the Bondi Beach too, which is essentially like, you know, Australia's Disneyland. Like that's the kind Yeah. I don't

[00:18:20] understand any of the culture body.

Kyle: Well, like, it had like their big nature attraction. Like, it's like an, it's not a nature, it's like it's just a free loving surfer.

Well, it's just. It's a, [00:18:30] it's, it's, it's Ozzy culture. Right. What was

going on exactly at all these? So there was a big

Kyle: Hanukkah event.

Okay. It was a Jewish event where they were literally, he knew they were all gonna be two Muslim

Kyle: just went and start firing father [00:18:40] and a son and then just went with their rifles.

Kyle: And they have super strict gun laws out there already. 'cause I remember selling to them. And we actually sold in MET we sold more to Australia, some of the

strictest gun laws on the [00:18:50] planet.

Kyle: Yeah. 'cause we sold more to Australia than we did to Canada because they basically only allowed bolt actions. Uh, and so basically all the money goes into just that format.

Kyle: So I found, so they went in there and

just let [00:19:00] loose. So I found it very interesting the week, um, in the last week I was in the US and I was at a farm picking up cows. And, uh, a guy was, had a holster and had like [00:19:10] a, a pistol on his hip and o open carry, open carry in Washington state, literally anywhere other than like, I don't think in nightclubs.

Couple places. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe we talked about this already. Now I'm [00:19:20] having deja vu that we talked about this last week of the podcast, but we talked about exactly this and we said, I said to them, oh, I'm assuming in Whatcom County where we are, there's no theft. No there's no theft. [00:19:30] The farm yards are safe.

Mm-hmm. Nobody's robbing a gas station. Sue Mass. 'cause like there's somebody in the gas station that has a gun, like it's d you're risking your life. Yeah. So it's [00:19:40] fascinating how we get into this gun debate and I mean, obviously it's a very political and heated topic and people have different views, but I just think, man, if, if, if mentally seen, [00:19:50] you know, emotionally well-rounded people have guns in a society, it's not the issue that's, that's not the issue.

Like how can people be so blind to be like, eradicate the guns? No, the, the [00:20:00] wackos and the criminals will always be armed. That's just the way it's gonna be. Their

Kyle: guns. I mean, it's frustrat, it's brutal. They find

something else you take. Very frustrating. They'll make the, and that's what they're talking about now already.

They're [00:20:10] just like, we need stricter gun laws. You already have someone to strictest gun laws and Oh, they are in Australian culture. They, they're literally

bring that up in this issue. Yep. They're

already saying it. We need stricter gun laws. I was just watching too, uh, [00:20:20] um, yesterday, Alban Albanese, whatever his name is, the PR pre, um, prime Minister of Australia saying, you know, we need to, those, those are the real

Kyle: criminals,

the [00:20:30] politicians.

Yeah. It's brutal. It's brutal how much they've let slide and they've been, the Jewish community down there has been warning them for ages, just like this is getting nuts a couple weeks ago and you're [00:20:40] doing nothing about

Kyle: it. A couple weeks ago, the Sydney Harbor Beach, they were having this huge like. Gas, the Jews.

Kyle: It's, it's crazy. It's crazy. And you know, you know who Novak Kovic is? [00:20:50] Yeah. So he was that tennis player that a couple years ago was denied entry into Australia. Yeah. Because he didn't get vaccinated. Yeah, yeah. You know, they kicked him out like that. He was unsafe to come into Australia. Yeah. Yeah. But they're letting all these [00:21:00] radicals come in.

Kyle: He's crazies and they're, or

they, or, or worse, they're radicalized while they're in Australia.

Kyle: Yeah. That, yeah, that too. Yeah. So you, you, uh, brutal, [00:21:10] brutal. You, um, minister to a lot of the Muslim community Tons. Yeah. In, in Australia. Right. We had a

really great relationship with them Yeah. In Australia. [00:21:20] Was there a question?

Kyle: I was thinking about one then I forgot it.

Oh, okay. Yeah. We, we gotta know a lot of the Muslim people. They're beautiful people, rich culture. But like [00:21:30] if, here's the weird problem, right? The, the, so, um, if, if you're going to obey [00:21:40] what. Muhammad who claimed to be a prophet says and does or emulate him, you're gonna be a terrible person.

Like he's, 'cause he wasn't a good man. Like, no, he [00:21:50] slept

it, it was awful. Everything he did, like, he, he murdered, he pillaged, he raped all kinds of different stuff, but, but there's, they've not [00:22:00] had, so like Christianity back in the dark ages, we were burning witches and all that kind of stuff.

Right? Like, so we, but we had a reformation. We had an enlightenment. That's [00:22:10] happened and, and across, you know, centuries that happens. Islam hasn't had one.

Kyle: Yeah.

Right. So they, they've not, so Saudi Arabia is actually [00:22:20] becoming very tame, so they're largely Muslim and the UAE and stuff like that. They're, they're almost all claiming to be a Muslim populace, but they're, they're, believe it or [00:22:30] not, they're starting to question, you know, do we really need to be taking these texts?

Literally, do we can, can we like, find a way to, uh, spiritualize the lesson, [00:22:40] which is what we did. Centuries ago. So now we've got a different kind of, of faith than we did in the dark ages. A better one

Kyle: dumb question. Well, they didn't, [00:22:50] couldn't read back then either.

Yeah, well they were just believing priests.

The same thing. These guys, they're just believing imams, however they can read it

Kyle: for themselves.

It's, yeah, but most don don't.

Kyle: It's the [00:23:00] Koran,

right? The Quran is the, is it Islamic sacred test? And

who is that? Mohamad? Did he write the Koran? Who wrote the rah?

That's not for debate actually. That's, yeah.

Well they, they, the claim is that [00:23:10] he was illiterate. The, he claimed to be a prophet of God. He was illiterate and he wrote the Quran, and that's their big miracle. But, um, I mean, some of the hadiths, which are [00:23:20] like commentary essentially, you could draw a question to that. Did he actually write it? 'cause, 'cause the Quran itself is, is a hadith, which means like it's a recitation.[00:23:30]

So he was basically saying all these things and eventually it was documented, but. I mean, their history is so convoluted with war. And

Kyle: what, what do you think about the [00:23:40] anti-Semitism that's like, keeps, keeps coming up everywhere, getting worse and worse? Like where do you think that's around the world

or just in the Muslim community?

Both. So not all Muslims are anti-Semitic, but, uh, [00:23:50] I think in my opinion when I've read the Quran, the Quran is antisemitic. So, um, that's just my opinion. But, uh, it's, [00:24:00] it's. Problematic if, if you can't get past what it says. Literally. Like if you can't, you know, make a metaphor out of [00:24:10] something that you're reading in the Quran, like it's, it's pretty dark.

Yeah. Like you could, you could camp out on the Old Testament verses that are pretty brutal and become an awful person. Right. But we have the [00:24:20] grace of Jesus coming as redeemer and saying look like, no, like none of these things are the way you live. But like I said, Islam doesn't have that relief. [00:24:30]

That reminds me of a book, I dunno if you've ever heard of it, but there was a guy, he wrote a couple books and I read them.

It was AJ Jacobs popular probably 10 or 15 years ago. They were New York Times bestsellers [00:24:40] and one of his books was, and I think maybe he was Jewish, but he wrote the Year of Living Biblically and he took all texts from the Newcastle. Oh yeah. 6 43 laws. Yeah.

Kyle: He

wrote, you know, he had [00:24:50] clothes and food and, and wrote about it.

Right. Yeah. Anyways, interesting. Read

Kyle: how we grew up. They would love that book.

Well, that's the, I guess. I mean, I wouldn't say that point per se. I hear point [00:25:00] you hear. Well, I think if you go into the, I think if you don't read the Bible in its entirety, you're in deep trouble. And people love to grab verses of whatever Yeah.

They're doing and to justify [00:25:10] what they're doing. Right. And if you

don't let the New Testament wrap it all up, you, you know, you're just gonna,

Kyle: well, what about anti-Semitism in general? Like, you think there's Satan behind this and like pushing it? 'cause it's, it's popping [00:25:20] up everywhere. Absolutely. The devil loves death.

Kyle: He loves it. But also, do you think because the Jewish people are God's chosen people, that he hates them more and like he's doing more to like, cause havoc [00:25:30] and, and destroy them?

I don't know. That's a theological question. There's lots of different, there's lots of different, lots of different bins and avenues.

So [00:25:40] some would say that because the Jews rejected Christ, they're reaping, you know, the result of that. Some people would say that because they're the [00:25:50] chosen people of God, they're reaping the result of that. Some people would say that because they, uh, have, uh, you [00:26:00] know, let's say, uh, reclaimed or it was the, the land of Israel was given back and which is the occupation argument that that's causing [00:26:10] hatred and vitriol toward the Jews.

But I don't think so. I I largely think that the Jews have always suffered. And because they're called by [00:26:20] God's name, whether they're good or bad is irrelevant. I'll ask another question.

So like, I'm reading through the Old Testament now, and [00:26:30] I mean, they're this, this, the Bible

study rather than a discussion.

Well, I've just got a question for you related to it, and this is like very open-ended and I'll

try my best buddy.

Yeah. Like you read about all [00:26:40] the. How God talks to all the Israelites and all the, and there again, I'm not gonna quote it properly because I don't have the text in front of me, so I'm not gonna try to, but just the idea of like, Hey, you rebelled.

[00:26:50] You'll be punished. You'll rebelled. You'll be punished. Do you think that has any connection to the hard things that the Jews have went through now? Or is that completely

irrelevant? No, I don't. When you're talking about [00:27:00] in, this is my. My thoughts on the matter when you're talking about Jews or Israel or Jerusalem or, uh, I don't think anything, [00:27:10] uh, globally that's happening to them or to those things is irrelevant.

It's almost like a stopwatch on, on prophecy. Like [00:27:20] the vast majority of, of, of prophecies in scripture, especially having to do with the return of Christ, um, seem to focus a [00:27:30] lot on Israel, either the geographic location or the people. So I don't think anything about them is irrelevant. Okay. That's my opinion.

So, like I've always said, if you [00:27:40] see, if you actually are alive to see a new temple being rebuilt in Jerusalem, you'll probably see the Lord return, or we'll all be nuked before he does. [00:27:50] It's that like if you, 'cause that's a very literal sign.

Kyle: Wasn't the last war gonna be in that area too?

Kyle: Like in, [00:28:00] oh, I don't know. That's guys', I'm always scared of these

conversations. I love them. No, I know you do. I love them. I know you do, but I've gotten into as when you're in the weeds. Well, the weeds, I wouldn't even say the weeds 'cause I'm not saying it's not [00:28:10] important, but people that are excited about eschatology, which is end times.

The gospel. The cross. Yes. The cross. But I [00:29:00] haven't, I haven't always, I've been convicted even in these discussions as I'm debating these people that are railing at me for, you know, not believing in the rapture or whatever.

It's the worst place that anyone could put you in.

you're right, and this is where, when I have these heated discussions and. This is with people in church. Right. Amazing people. Um, and I'll [00:30:10] push back on 'em and all saying like, do you, like, are you worried about how you're leaving this earth?

Are you worried about what, where your neighbor's going when they're leaving?

Kyle: Mm-hmm. Like,

where's your heart? Like, what are you spending the bulk of your [00:30:20] time being concerned about? Right. And there again, not that it doesn't matter, I think that's the ditches that we go into. Mm-hmm. And we start saying, Hey, that this person's crazy.

But it was just interesting when [00:30:30] you brought up the end times there. It felt like you were gonna start telling us what the exact date was gonna be. And I was gonna leave very quickly.

I don't think I could narrow it down to the day and the hour. [00:30:40] But I think I could get one of them. It was, I heard someone say that one time.

I don't think I can get it to the day and the hour, but probably the day. There's a

lot of verses about those kind of people. [00:30:50] Ah, passed it.

Kyle: Two, two Sundays ago, pastor Matt had a, um, Matt, Sean's had an, uh, sermon on a prophecy and he said, if I said next week, uh, Thursday, um, the [00:31:00] world's gonna end. Uh, would, who would believe me?

Kyle: He goes maybe like one or two people. He goes by next week, Friday, no one would believe me. Yeah, obviously. Right? Yeah. And then he talked about the 300 prophecies in the Old Testament that were hundreds [00:31:10] of years before Christ. And, uh, how mu those 300 plus that came true in the New Testament and how that, how much that proves everything to be true.

Kyle: Oh, yeah. And, uh, it's of the things, how he phrased that and [00:31:20] how he show, showed that I thought was like, really solidified it again, like the fact that Christ is real. Like it's not just, uh, yeah. One of the options of that you can [00:31:30] believe in it's fully fact

and it's one of the most powerful things that makes the Bible so unique.

Like 200 years. This one here, I, when I read it was on, like, I couldn't [00:31:40] believe it, right? 200 years before King Cyrus of Peric is born. Isaiah names him, [00:31:50] names King Cyrus as Israel's redeemer. Right? Like God's gonna use as a redeemer for Israel 200 years before his. Like that's, I mean, come [00:32:00] on. That's, that's

Um, and they set some resolutions [00:35:10] up. Um, defunding the third trimester abortions, uh, made it to convention floor and it got passed, um, 95% of the delegates.

Kyle: Um, actually closer, apparently he says [00:35:20] closer to 98. Put it in favor of the resolution.

So that's seven and eight months, right. After seven months.

Kyle: Yes. So the United Conservative Party now officially opposes public funding for the third trimester [00:35:30] abortions. And to our knowledge, the UCP is now the only major political party in Canada, um, federally or provincially, that officially opposes abortion funding at any stage of [00:35:40] pregnancy.

And that's Alberta. Yeah.

Kyle: Which I think that statement in itself is the craziest statement that there's one province in all of this Western country. One

party and one province.

Kyle: One party and one

No, they never do. [00:39:50] You, you very, you have to be extremely mature leader to pick people that are way smarter than you just surround you. Most people will gravitate towards having people that listen to them and don't challenge them.

Right? 'cause it's very uncomfortable to have people [00:40:00] that are way brighter than you questioning what you're doing. That's

the only reason I still got a job. I put people around me that, that's, I dove. I've

managed to hire a few simpletons do, but they're getting smarter and smarter as longer. I, go ahead.

And it's a, about equality and the idea that basically, and, and I read the points the other night, um, from this [00:40:50] law, what we're, what we're basing our laws on is basically, hey, the fact that the natives were here first, um, they have Didn't get it man. You didn't. That's what the [00:54:40] scripture says. Like, help him pick it up. Yeah. I get that part. Yeah. Before you try and help your brother

Kyle: On, on a more more positive [00:54:50] note, talking about generosity, I was talking to a guy last week that I used to work with and uh, he went to a mission trip to Guatemala or some, I don't know, some someplace.

Kyle: Um, and he was saying that they had [00:55:00] challenged him to be generous, not just with his money, but to be generous with love and to be generous with sharing the gospel. And a lot of times you talk about generosity. When it comes to money, right? Like, are you a generous person [00:55:10] or not? But there's actually way more things you can be generous with.

Kyle: And it made me, I hadn't really thought about it in, in thinking about it that way. It'd be like, Hey, are, are we generous with love, love, [00:55:20] just like simple loving people? Are we generous with sharing the gospel or is that like, something we're not generous with? And when you think of, use that word when it comes to those things, uh, I think it, uh, it hit, it [00:55:30] hits differently, or it did for me anyway.

Kyle: Mm.

Kyle: So

Kyle: I, I thought I'd bring it up and uh, just as an encouragement for Google as well, like, Hey, maybe you're not, you can't be super generous with money 'cause things are tight, but you can be generous with other things. Mm. You can be generous with your [00:55:40] patients, you can generous with your kindness. You can be generous with, well, I think the gospel mostly.

I'm gonna go back to the bookstore 'cause I put it on show notes a while ago. 'cause I do think a lot of our [00:55:50] listeners will really enjoy it. It is gonna have great, great literature in it. And the best way to, um, support something is obviously go there. And, um, there's a lot of good people that I [00:56:00] know that are involved in that, that have helped start it.

Um, I struggle, I do struggle with the idea of labeling something in that way and then it's the best 'cause I just struggle with that, the wording and the exclusivity of it. But [00:56:10] that's not the intent.

I'm still like a little bit surprised that you're not joking. The whole bookstore is just

question must be then, how do I get around the scripture references. Okay.

Alright. So [01:00:10] the. The scripture references that would address a woman in leadership over a man. I think they're in first Timothy, and there might even be one in First [01:00:20] Corinthians. Largely. Those are the ones that people camp out on. Paul says, I will not allow a woman to teach or preach or sorry, preach or have authority over a man.

[01:00:30] So there's two ways to look at it on my side. Uh, it's, Paul was talking directly about the church at Ephesus, I believe. I mean, um, [01:00:40] my memory, I think it was Ephesus and he was putting Timothy in charge. Go ahead.

Addressing specifically the church in [01:01:10] Ephesus because he, and in one Timothy, he, he talks about how widows were wealthier and there were some younger widows that were just [01:01:20] gossiping and causing trouble. And in fact, I think he even says that there're just stirring up strife. So I think when he address there in, [01:01:30] when he says to Timothy, who's a very young leader like Timothy's, probably somewhere around 20, and, uh, uh, Paul says, I don't allow a [01:01:40] woman to teach.

I think his opinion was for Timothy to take it on himself to say, or have authority over a man because it just gets rid of the problem right away. [01:01:50] You've got all these gossiping women in this, in, in the place where you are right now. Take on my, uh, uh, model o of of leadership and just [01:02:00] fix the problem.

However, uh, he seems to. In other places, like you just suggested, [01:02:10] give women, you know, deacon Hood, which is a pretty big deal in the church, uh, where they would have authority or at least some authority. [01:02:20] Um, and he tends to favor Chloe and even credits Chloe as having the, having the church at her home, which [01:02:30] means she's the one who has authority to have people there.

So you could argue that Paul is isolated, talking about isolated cases. I [01:02:40] don't personally think he is. I, I would take it like this. Paul is a Pharisee. When he was converted, Paul had huge [01:02:50] issues that he had to deal with, just like we do. So. Look at the way Paul talks about marriage. He's relatively clueless as re re with regards to what he says [01:03:00] about why marriage is necessary same as us.

Yeah, that's right. Well probably same. Well, like for example, Paul says if you are burning with [01:03:10] lust, essentially that's what I say, just get married. That's what I say. Right? What?

So God certainly [01:03:40] put women in leadership over men. Jesus gave the gospel and the direction of evangelism to women.

The [01:03:50] message of the risen Christ was given to women first in a society where men were often the ones that were put on the pedestals. God put Deborah in charge of [01:04:00] Israel. She was a prophetess, and she also had authority to judge the entire nation. So you're like, you have in scripture [01:04:10] places where God is the justification for the standard that I hold.

question for you. So then in the, I guess the specific text, I'm thinking of [01:04:20] where you, and there's lots more by the way. I could. Okay, fair enough. Yep. And I, and I think we could circle back to it another time. There's probably be a longer discussion than we can have right now. I guess I always felt like the text where it [01:04:30] specifically talks about church leadership, would you not agree that those are specifically two men, or you're just thinking it's leaving the women out like often scripture does where it says, you know, do this, brothers do [01:04:40] this.

And so the Bible's often written that

way. Like, for example, when Paul addresses, uh, uh, um, I think almost every church other than [01:04:50] maybe other than the church at Philippi, he addresses them with the male vernacular brethren, but he's inclu, he's talking to everyone.

I guess back on the, [01:05:00] on, on those cases though, when Timothy and where he's speaking about being an elder, I mean, it says a man of one wife.

Like, do you think it that's that's true. That's true. You would agree that that's pretty specific, right? Yes. He's specifically

[01:05:10] talking there, but again, but again, I think he's going with what he favors, right? So you this, I think this, this is one of those places [01:05:20] where you, it isn't a central pillar. So you have to be consistent across the board.

So when Paul starts talking about how women will be [01:05:30] saved through childbirth, because they weren't the ones that were dece, oh, sorry. They were the ones that deceive were deceived and Adam wasn't. You have to look at that consistency and what [01:05:40] is he talking about there?

He's not saying that if you don't have kids, you won't be saved.

well, I don't think so. No, I don't. But you can draw from it. Like, all I'm saying is you have to be consistent across [01:05:50] scripture. How is it that God and Jesus certainly endorses supports and, uh, puts women on that [01:06:00] pedestal. But Paul, a converted Pharisee has problems with it.

He expects all of us to be disciples. Yeah. And I think if, for me, I think that would be the, you know, in a relationship with you where I can be, hey, I can be challenged. Even though we're gonna disagree on this, we will definitely disagree. [01:06:40] I'll disagree with you. I think that we can always be challenged by people that do disagree with us, that we can wrestle with things and realize that, hey, we all have areas where we could grow in this area.

will say this. Two things I wanna [01:06:50] say. Yeah. First thing is, this is the least of my worries. Like, for example, I get along and so does my wife Fiona, get along extremely well. Usually with the churches. Don [01:07:00] don't. With the doctor. Foreign people. Yeah. But also with the churches that take a more hard line conservative approach in interpreting scripture so often we are [01:07:10] very.

Close with the churches that don't like to have women preachers. But the Salvation Army seems to be a bit of a neutral ground. We do, we tend to have great [01:07:20] relationships with churches that don't like women in leadership. 'cause I, 'cause it's the least of my worries. If somebody interprets the scripture with that kind of hard line, literal [01:07:30] lens, I don't care.

My bigger concern are the guys that would say, ah, scripture is no bedrock whatsoever. We can all just interpret whatever we want. But you know, the Bible isn't bingo. A [01:07:40] bedrock. Righto. So a bedrock. So the authority is whatever you feel and those are the ones that are my

So was her preaching wrong? 'cause that's what she did. So is it, do you mean like inside the church building a woman shouldn't be [01:08:50] preaching? Or do you mean flat out a woman shouldn't be preaching? Because I don't think that's defensible in scripture at all.

No. And so I look at it like I, I think I added a bit.

there again, this is, it's such a broad spectrum of where people are fair. And I think you wanna be so careful putting people in a camp there. I think the real heart of it is. That's real though. [01:09:30] Just short circuiting. One more time.

I don't believe he's called women to. And I feel like in places often where women are extremely strong. I feel like men often [01:10:40] abdicate leadership in a hundred ways. Men don't lead well spiritually. I've had hundreds of women in my life, you know, cry because their husband's not leading. Yes, they want their husband to [01:10:50] lead, and it's uncomfortable if you've never been brought up in a, as a, in a household where you've been taught to do that.

Like, I feel like I am relatively mature in that area and I still fall short [01:11:00] often at home with my wife, where it's like, Hey, I'm not praying for enough. I'm not having those awkward conversa, whatever they are. Right? Yeah. So when we start ripping, when you are a person that's ripping someone [01:11:10] theologically, when practically you're not living anything out how the Bible's called you to shame on you.

So that's kinda where I would land. And I know you and your wife have a heart for the Lord and desperately want the loss [01:11:20] to be saved. So for me, there's just, there again, I, I don't agree. We, I would say that we would interpret differently and we can be friends and I think there's great wisdom and great spiritual benefit [01:11:30] to have a few friends in your camp that don't agree on every single issue.

But when we were brought up, you hung out with only people that agreed on every single issue. And that's why there's a thousand church splits because human [01:11:40] nature would have it that pretty soon you disagree whether there should be chairs or pews in church. I just wanna point, and to our

listeners, you said you disagree with me, but you told me that the reason was [01:11:50] because of a building.

So that's where women aren't allowed to preach, is inside a building. I,

I said that's where the camp would land. I don't, I'm not Okay, fair.

Most people are gonna draw the line there. And so now, instead of him pushing back on the court, there was just literally a BC [00:41:40] Supreme Court decision, if I'm not mistaken, that basically that's where the pushback came from because it was being challenged by the BC government. And the court said, no, no, you guys are basing it on this [00:41:50] principle.

This land is not these land. This, this land belongs to this couch and tribe or whatever. So now a friend of mine had started to do some di due diligence, uh, [00:42:00] on, you know, on how much money these people are getting. They've been getting tens and tens of millions of dollars, and now they're getting their land.

This land is arguably in limb, so that's not gonna be reversed. It's definitely up for debate right [00:42:10] now. So now Eby instead of pushing back and saying, Hey, this is a horrible decision by the courts. He's being a weather vain. Now he's just saying, Hey, you know what? The public taxpayer will, uh, we'll create a [00:42:20] private fund of $150 million that will backstop the equity on this land.

So now we're gonna, what does that do? Yeah. Well, it's, it's a house of carts. Like it's, it'll never end and it'll eventually, [00:42:30] it's just not gonna work. Where does the money come from? Yeah. Where does the money come from? Like, just do all the other landowners in BC say, Hey, we're gonna prop, like it doesn't, not how it works.

And our whole fiscal system is built on trust. Yeah. And [00:42:40] there again, that's something that people that don't understand. Paula's fiscal policy. Stop table. Stop having too sorry. It'll put everybody, their outside. Get

But in Arc [00:48:00] province mm-hmm. In order to win a provincial election, in my opinion, you need to be a little more center. And that's why the BC level in Gordon, listen, I didn't say that. So I mean, when you lost 50% of your party, or, you know, so how many votes would she represent? [00:49:20] Way more than what it would seem, because a lot of people that were frustrated with John Rustad not taking more of a stand on things would instantly gravitate towards [00:49:30] that party. Right, right. It'd be very similar to the PPC federally.

Be like, but anyways, the, um, the whole [00:49:40] idea, I guess is with Dallas Brody is like, she, her whole, in my opinion, her whole party was about, um, uh, the talk about First Nations children's deaths at [00:49:50] residential schools. How that's not true. It's never been, you know, um, proven. There's proven nobody, there's no bodies have been found, which to my knowledge is true.

She's not wrong. [00:50:00] Yeah, but she's made that her entire political platform. And I mean, I started watching the documentary the other day and I haven't finished it, but I watched probably 30, 40 minutes of it. And what I found [00:50:10] was I found like you're allowed to approach that subject. You're allowed to ask the hard questions.

She was a lawyer, um, she was a social, ironically. Um, so a social lawyer for people [00:50:20] in, in Vancouver. Um, but I think when you're dealing with something where children were taken out of a home, and there again, I brought this up with somebody yesterday and they said, oh, you know, the homes they were in were horrible, blah.

But like,

it's [00:50:30] not grounds to win anything on.

It's not ground. Like you're dealing with something so, so brutal and so gross. There needs to be so much empathy and so much grace. Yeah. So yes, you can ask the questions, but [00:50:40] don't come across as a social justice warrior. Uh, like, you know what I mean? It was, it was, there was, it was no zero empathy in, it was so much about, Hey, we're just gonna discredit these people.

And there's another guy, he was a school [00:50:50] teacher in Abbotsford there again, like said, Hey, where's the bodies in 2021? Back when you weren't even allowed to question anything, but

you're, but you're saying they, they were doing more than just asking questions. They were really camping out [00:51:00] and

Well, I feel like it a bit, and I feel like, I feel like the empathy was lost. I feel like, hey, you know, either way you're, you're allowed to take a, a serious [00:51:10] down on stuff, but always be loving. And it just felt like there was this smugness of like, you know, and screw everybody. And it was the only issue.

It's like, no, this is a big province with many different, you know, backgrounds and [00:51:20] ethnicities and issues. If you're gonna be the leader of our entire province, you're gonna represent every community even if they didn't vote for you. That's something that somebody told me a long time ago, and I think a lot of people don't realize that they're so [00:51:30] excited about enshrining their beliefs into law when they get into political power.

And there's something about just kind of being, I think,

I think the winning issue right now is just standard of [00:51:40] living.

Kyle: I mean, that's a big thing. Essentially. I think the party has to grab like three or four really major issues and go after those hard. And what are

they standard of living? Everybody's [00:51:50] getting poor, everybody.

Yeah. Unless you're devaluation of money, it's Yeah, inflation and all that is rather Yeah. Connected to that. Yeah. Uh uh I think the, the gap. Gap cut Government

Kyle: cut. Government [00:52:00] spending on hard. Yep. Huge Government hardware. Bloating.

The bureaucracy is just ridiculously bloated

Kyle: medical system.

Oh yeah.

That's probably a good one too. Yeah. That's failing. And

I think we should have two tier medical system. I think. I think the drug have private. Do you think we drug have

private the drug problem in bc Most people would agree on right across the board, how are we gonna deal with the drug problem.

But

Kyle: [00:52:20] either way, I think before we get, we get to that part, I think if you pick those four issues, then let each candidate in wherever they're running, have their opinions on everything else. And that can be a free vote. [00:52:30] Otherwise, you're gonna never have a party where everyone's gonna get kicked out. I think you have what the bcf, the federal conservatives have now, which is that basically they can't say anything.

Kyle: That's how it's always been. Federally, [00:52:40] it, it's like that for a long time. Course it's worse than it ever has been.

I, yeah, but the media is grossly one side vindictive, one side and vindictive. Like it's, it's, I was jumpings. I [00:52:50] can't even watch CBC anymore. It's just so blatantly one sided all the time. Yeah.

Most of the books you reform, I mean, I, I hate the [00:53:50] term, I got a, I got a, I like to term, I got a lot of books by reformers. You're pretty much reformed in a lot of ways.
